HYDERABAD, 30 January 2025: The Telangana High Court has granted bail to former Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Bhujanga Rao and former Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Radhakishan Rao, who are key accused in the phone tapping case. The court directed each to provide two sureties of Rs 1 lakh and surrender their passports. They are also required to cooperate with the investigation, avoid influencing witnesses, and refrain from tampering with evidence.
Previously, in March 2024, Bhujanga Rao was arrested in connection with the case. Due to health issues, he was granted interim bail in August 2024, which was subsequently extended. After a regular bail plea was rejected, he surrendered to the Nampally court in November 2024. Similarly, Radhakishan Rao was arrested in March 2024. Following the sudden demise of his father-in-law, the High Court granted him escort bail in December 2024.
In a related development, the Supreme Court recently granted conditional bail to Additional SP Thirupathanna, another accused in the same case.
The phone tapping case has garnered significant attention, leading to multiple arrests and subsequent legal proceedings. The High Court’s decision marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing investigation.
