The Telangana High Court has ruled in favor of multiplexes, providing relief from government-imposed ticket pricing regulations. This decision is expected to ease financial strain on cinema operators.
HYDERABAD: In a significant legal ruling, the Telangana High Court has granted relief to multiplex operators by issuing orders in their favor regarding ticket pricing and operational regulations. The verdict addresses concerns raised by cinema hall owners about financial difficulties caused by state-imposed restrictions.
Multiplex owners had approached the court, arguing that government-imposed pricing controls were negatively affecting their revenue and operational flexibility. They claimed that the regulated ticket pricing model was creating financial strain and limiting their ability to sustain business operations effectively.
After reviewing the case, the High Court ruled in favor of the multiplexes, providing them with much-needed relief. The decision is expected to reduce the financial burden on cinema operators, enabling them to function with greater autonomy in pricing and operations.
This ruling is seen as a significant victory for the film exhibition industry in Telangana, which has faced revenue constraints due to ticket price regulations and evolving audience behaviors post-pandemic. The state government has yet to respond to the court’s decision.
