Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy secured legal relief on Friday as the Telangana High Court struck down a criminal case filed against him over remarks made at a public meeting in Khammam last year.
The case, initiated on a complaint by BJP leader Kasam Venkateswarlu, alleged that Revanth claimed the BJP would scrap reservations, thereby damaging the party’s reputation. The comments were reportedly made on May 4, 2023, during a public address in Kothagudem.
Revanth approached the High Court seeking quashing of the case being heard in the special court for public representatives. The court dismissed the case after hearing arguments.
Earlier this week, the Chief Minister also got relief from the Supreme Court in a separate matter related to a private land dispute in Gopanapalli. A transfer petition filed by N. Peddiraju against him was dismissed by the Chief Justice’s Bench.
