Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court will pronounce its verdict on the conduct of local body elections on Wednesday, June 25. The decision follows a writ petition filed by six former sarpanches from the districts of Nalgonda, Nirmal, Jangaon, and Karimnagar.

The petitioners challenged the delay in holding elections for gram panchayats, whose five-year term expired on January 31, 2024. They urged the court to direct the state government to immediately conduct the polls.

The court completed the hearing on Tuesday and reserved its judgment. The verdict is now scheduled to be delivered on Wednesday.
