HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court on Friday refused to grant a stay on the investigation against actress Vishnupriya in connection with the promotion of a betting app and advised her to cooperate with the police inquiry.
The actress had approached the court seeking quashing of the FIR filed against her, but the court declined the request. It ruled that the police investigation would continue in accordance with the law.
The case is related to the promotion of a betting application by 11 public figures, including film personalities and YouTubers. FIRs were registered at Panjagutta and Miyapur police stations, and summons were issued for their questioning.
Vishnupriya, who received a notice, appeared before Panjagutta Police on 20 March and participated in the interrogation. However, she failed to appear again on 25 March as required, and instead filed a petition in the High Court seeking dismissal of the FIR.
The court rejected her plea and instructed her to cooperate with the ongoing police investigation.
