The Telangana government has declared a holiday for schools and government offices in Warangal, Khammam, and Nalgonda on February 27 due to the Teachers’ MLC elections.
HYDERABAD: The Telangana government has announced a holiday for educational institutions and government offices in Warangal, Khammam, and Nalgonda districts on February 27. The decision has been taken in view of the Teachers’ Member of Legislative Council (MLC) elections scheduled for that day. District Collectors have issued orders ensuring that schools and government establishments remain closed to facilitate smooth polling.
A total of 19 candidates are contesting in the Teachers’ constituency for these elections. Additionally, in the Graduate constituency covering the combined districts of Karimnagar, Medak, Nizamabad, and Adilabad, 56 candidates are in the fray, while the Teachers’ constituency in this region has 15 candidates. The contest is primarily among major political parties.
The Karimnagar Graduate constituency has 3,41,313 registered voters, including 2,18,060 men, 1,23,250 women, and three others. The Karimnagar Teachers’ constituency consists of 25,921 voters, while the Nalgonda Teachers’ constituency includes 25,797 voters, with 14,940 men and 9,965 women.
With the election campaign concluding at 4:30 PM today, candidates are making their final efforts to secure support from the electorate.
