Hyderabad: The Drugs Control Administration (DCA), Telangana carried out 809 raids between August 22 and September 15 to stop illegal abortion kit sales and enforce drug safety rules across the state.
The department launched this special drive to stop unauthorized sales of Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Kits. It focused on abortifacient drugs such as Mifepristone and Misoprostol, which were being sold by licensed shops and unqualified practitioners.

Inspectors found irregularities in 234 medical shops during the raids. The DCA issued Show Cause Notices to all of them. It also suspended licences of 165 shops and cancelled licences of seven more.
Officials said they are taking strong steps to stop the misuse of abortion-related drugs. They warned that all critical medications must be sold only under proper medical supervision.
The department confirmed that enforcement drives will continue to protect public health and prevent illegal drug sales.
