Hyderabad: Authorities in Telangana’s Peddapalli district have uncovered a major illegal rice transport operation, seizing five lorries from two rice mills in Sultanabad during a late-night task force raid.
Acting on a tip-off, civil supplies and task force officials raided the mills and intercepted five trucks loaded with rice valued at ₹35 lakh, allegedly being moved without proper documentation.
Subsequent inspections of the two mills revealed massive irregularities. Officials confirmed that 8,500 metric tonnes of rice, valued at ₹18.78 crore, had been transacted through unauthorised means.
Cases have been registered against the rice mill owners. Investigations into the scale and route of the illicit operations are ongoing.
