Hyderabad: Telangana will, for the first time, cultivate income-generating plants on government land, Minister T. Nageshwar Rao said at a plantation drive held in the YSR Colony area on the outskirts of Khammam.
Participating in the programme, the minister said a model garden is being developed on two acres of municipal land under the Khammam Municipal Corporation (KMC). Around 800 saplings are being planted in the plot, aimed at generating both greenery and revenue for the civic body.
The minister said the garden would serve as a model for future urban afforestation projects and provide local residents with a public green space. He added that directions have been issued to relevant departments to ensure the garden’s successful implementation and maintenance.
