Hyderabad: Telangana IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said his government would transform Telangana into an Innovation Hub. He announced plans to set up T-Hub style incubation centres in Warangal and Nalgonda, partnering with Kakatiya University and Mahatma Gandhi University. Moreover, the government will soon sign MoUs with both universities to formalise the collaboration.
Sridhar Babu inaugurated the two-day ‘Kakatiya University Pharma Alumni’ Golden Jubilee celebrations at the Nampally Exhibition Ground on Saturday, along with Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy.
Telangana Innovation Hub to drive pharma and life sciences growth
Addressing the gathering, Sridhar Babu said science creates true social value only when it serves humanity. Therefore, he explained, the government aims to position Telangana not only as a global pharma and life sciences hub, but also as a “pharmacy of purpose.”
He added that his department was developing a 360-degree ecosystem that links research to markets and policy to patients. In addition, the state had attracted ₹54,000 crore in new investments for the life sciences sector over the past 18 months. As a result, Telangana has strengthened its position as one of India’s most dynamic innovation economies.
Global firms, local jobs, and knowledge partnerships
Furthermore, Sridhar Babu said global pharmaceutical companies such as Eli Lilly had chosen Telangana for expansion. These firms, he noted, were creating new job opportunities for local youth. However, he pointed out that while technology might diagnose diseases faster than doctors, no machine could replace human empathy.
Meanwhile, the Minister urged Non-Resident Indian professionals to invest their knowledge and experience in India’s growth. He also told young innovators that history remembers those who help people, not those who only collect patents. Thus, he encouraged them to focus on impact-driven innovation.
Later, Kakatiya University Vice-Chancellor Prof. K. Pratap Reddy, Dr. B. Prabha Shankar, Ramprasad Reddy, Pradyumna, Dr. Tamara Vijay Kumar, Prof. Bhaskar R. Jasti, Rajeshwar Thota, and Prof. J. Krishnaveni joined the event and shared their views.
