Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Wednesday issued a gazette notification for the 2027 census, confirming that caste enumeration will be included in the process.
Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao published the state notification, following the Gazette issued earlier by the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner under the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
The next decennial census is scheduled for February 9 to 28, 2027. A state-wide household survey will be conducted in 2026 in preparation.
The entire enumeration process will be carried out by the Telangana state machinery. The census exercise is expected to conclude by March 1, 2027.
The state notification marks the formal initiation of the census process, aligning with the Centre’s framework while adding a caste component to the data collection.
