Hyderabad: Uncertainty continues over the conduct of local body elections in Telangana as the government has yet to resolve the issue of BC reservations. The High Court directed the state to complete the election process by September 30. Meanwhile, critics allege that the Revanth Reddy government has made no effort to enhance BC reservations.
On Friday, Telangana Jagruthi, led by MLC K. Kavitha, posted a sharp message on X. The organisation asked whether the government treated BCs with neglect and questioned its sincerity.
Telangana Jagruthi steps up demand on BC reservations
Telangana Jagruthi said the government continued to make excuses while the High Court deadline approached. It pointed to contradictory statements from leaders some saying elections would take place before September 30, others insisting they would follow only after quota enhancement. The group accused the state of misleading BC communities with shifting announcements.
The organisation demanded 42 percent reservations for BCs in local bodies. It warned that if the government failed to decide soon, activists would lay siege to Ministers’ Quarters. Telangana Jagruthi also vowed to launch more direct agitations across the state until the demand was met.
