HYDERABAD: Telangana has emerged as the leading state in paddy production this year, according to Minister for Finance and Planning, Bhatti Vikramarka. Speaking at a review meeting, the minister highlighted the importance of modern irrigation methods and urged financial institutions to support agricultural initiatives.
He called upon banks to step forward in encouraging drip irrigation, emphasising that NABARD should play a crucial role in providing subsidies and financial assistance. Vikramarka also stressed the need to promote horticultural crops across the state as a means of agricultural diversification.
The minister further noted that NABARD has a significant role in fostering the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Telangana. He advocated for increased financial literacy among farmers and rural entrepreneurs and called for enhanced digital banking services to improve accessibility and efficiency.
Government officials and banking representatives are expected to hold further discussions to implement these measures effectively.
