Hyderabad: The Telangana government has announced collateral-free loans of ₹1 lakh to ₹2 lakh for Indiramma housing beneficiaries who are members of DWCRA self-help groups.
The move aims to address financial constraints faced by poor families struggling to start construction despite being sanctioned a house under the Indiramma Gruha Nirmana Pathakam. Officials said the credit support is already being extended in select districts and will be scaled up phase-wise.
In the scheme’s first phase, the state sanctioned 4,16,500 houses 3,500 per constituency. Each beneficiary is entitled to ₹5 lakh, disbursed in stages based on construction progress. The first installment of ₹1 lakh is released upon completion of the foundation.
However, officials noted that several families lacked upfront funds to begin construction even after allotment. In response, the state is facilitating access to microloans for women enrolled in self-help collectives, easing entry into the housing process.
The Indiramma scheme, reintroduced as a flagship housing program, targets shelterless low-income families across rural and urban Telangana.
