Hyderabad: The Telangana State Election Commission (SEC) announced the schedule for local body elections on Monday. Commissioner Ranikumudini confirmed polling will run in five phases across 31 districts.
In the opening two phases, the SEC will conduct Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) elections. Gram panchayat polls will follow in three additional phases. Voters will therefore elect 5,749 MPTC members, 565 ZPTC members, 12,733 gram panchayats, and 1,12,288 ward representatives.

The first phase of MPTC and ZPTC polling will take place on October 23, while the second will follow on October 27. Meanwhile, gram panchayat elections will occur in three rounds on October 31, November 4, and November 8.
The SEC also said officials will count gram panchayat votes immediately after polling. In addition, it scheduled November 11 as the counting date for MPTC and ZPTC elections. Officials further confirmed that polls will cover 565 mandals across all 31 districts.
