Hyderabad: The Telangana State Mahila Congress held its executive body meeting today at Gandhi Bhavan, led by state president Mogali Sunitha Rao.
During the meeting, Sunitha Rao called on all party women leaders to focus on strengthening the organisation from the booth, mandal, and block levels. She referred to a similar message from senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during last month’s AICC CWC meeting, urging grassroots work to reinforce the party’s structure.
Sunitha asked district presidents and in-charges to actively contribute to building the party at the ground level, especially with local body elections expected in the near future. She said the Congress government’s welfare schemes must be taken to the public in a big way.
She also highlighted key policy achievements, including the caste census and the passing of a bill ensuring 42% reservation for BCs, as well as the classification of SC sub-groups—moves she said were made under the current Congress government. She also mentioned the launch of Rajiv Yuva Vikasam, a subsidy-linked self-employment scheme for youth.
Sunitha raised concerns over the lack of nominated positions for long-serving women leaders within the party. She said lists of Mahila Congress workers who have served the party for over 20 years had been sent to both the AICC and TPCC several times, but none had been nominated yet. She acknowledged the dissatisfaction this had caused among the cadre and said she is doing her part to raise the matter with senior leadership.
She also requested all district presidents and in-charges to submit monthly reports to the Mahila Congress PDF email.
