Hyderabad: A 26-year-old labourer died by suicide on Friday in Pragathi Nagar under Ibrahimpatnam police station limits after a reported dispute with his wife.
Police identified the deceased as Vivek, a native of Patna in Bihar. He had married Kanchan, 24, also from Bihar, five months ago. The couple had shifted to Ibrahimpatnam after the wedding, where Vivek worked as a daily wage labourer.
Officers said the couple had frequent arguments for about a week, which left Vivek distressed. Around 4 pm on Friday, he locked himself inside a room and hanged himself from a ventilator using a saree.
His wife was outside the house at the time. When she returned and received no response after knocking, she grew suspicious. Neighbours helped break open the door, but Vivek was found dead.
Ibrahimpatnam sub-inspector Ramakrishna stated that a case has been registered and investigation is underway.
