Hyderabad: Telangana ministers and all-party MLAs will meet Governor Jishnu Dev Varma today to seek his approval for the BC reservations bill passed in the Assembly.
Ministers, MLAs to meet Governor
Minister Ponnam Prabhakar wrote to all floor leaders, urging them to join the delegation to Raj Bhavan. The meeting with the Governor will take place at 11.30 a.m.
Last week, the Assembly unanimously passed the Panchayat Raj Amendment Bill. The bill enhances BC reservations in local bodies by removing the 50 per cent cap.
Delegation to press for assent
Ministers and all-party leaders plan to urge the Governor to give assent to the bill, reflecting the mood of the House.
The delegation includes Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, Vakati Srihari, and Konda Surekha, along with Government Whips Aadi Srinivas and Beerla Ilaiah. Several BC MLAs and opposition leaders will also join.
