HYDERABAD: The Election Commission has released the schedule for the election of five Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs) in Telangana under the MLA quota.
These seats will fall vacant on March 29, 2025, following the completion of the tenure of current MLCs—Mahmood Ali, Satyavathi Rathod, Sheri Subhash Reddy, Egge Mallesham, and Riyazul Hassan.
As per the announced schedule:
- Notification Release Date: March 3, 2025
- Last Date for Filing Nominations: March 10, 2025
- Scrutiny of Nominations: March 11, 2025
- Last Date for Withdrawal of Nominations: March 13, 2025
- Polling Date: March 20, 2025 (9 AM to 4 PM)
- Counting of Votes: March 20, 2025 (Immediately after polling)
The Election Commission has confirmed that the entire election process will be completed by March 24, 2025. The elections are expected to draw significant political attention, given the ongoing shifts in Telangana’s political landscape.
