Hyderabad: A monsoon trough continues over the east-central Bay of Bengal at 1.5 km above sea level, the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre said on Thursday. The IMD noted that this system could bring light to moderate rains across several Telangana districts until August 27.
The weather office reported light rain in parts of the state on Thursday. It forecast more widespread showers over the weekend.

On Friday, districts such as Mancherial, Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, and Hanamkonda may see rain with lightning and thunder. Gusty winds could also reach speeds of 30 to 40 kmph.
In the past 24 hours, Jainath in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district received the highest rainfall at 2.95 cm. Vajedu and Kannayigudem in Mulugu recorded 2.55 cm and 2.33 cm, respectively. Gattul saw 1.61 cm, while Palimela in Jayashankar Bhupalpally measured 1.60 cm.
The IMD urged caution in areas likely to experience intense localised showers.
