Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Monday formed a high-level committee of experts and academics to draft the Telangana Education Policy (TEP) under its “Telangana Rising 2047” mission. The policy will guide the state’s education sector and align with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 while addressing Telangana’s specific needs.

Advisor to the Government Dr. Keshava Rao will chair the panel. Members include MLA Dr. Kadiyam Srihari, former IAS officer and TGEC Chairman Akunuri Murali, Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, Education Secretary Dr. Yogita Rana (Member Convener), and TGHEC Chairman Prof. Bala Kista Reddy. The chairperson may also nominate additional members.
Focus areas of the policy
The committee will adapt NEP 2020 to Telangana’s context and link education with emerging job markets, digital transformation, and entrepreneurship. It will also recommend ways to strengthen research and boost collaboration between academia and industry. Moreover, it will propose reforms in school, higher, technical, vocational, skilling, and professional education, with emphasis on accessibility, equity, and quality.
Report due in October 2025
The government directed the panel to submit its report by October 30, 2025. Officials said the TEP will act as a roadmap to turn Telangana into a hub of inclusive, innovation-driven, and globally competitive education.
