Hyderabad: Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Friday said the state government is building a new model of development that combines economic growth with social equity and environmental responsibility.
Speaking at the ASSOCHAM Southern CSR and Sustainability Conference and Awards in Hyderabad, Vikramarka said the Congress-led government under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is committed to a fiscally disciplined and inclusive approach.
He criticised the trickle-down model of economics, calling instead for a “lift-all” growth model that addresses inequality and prioritises human well-being. “Profit without purpose is meaningless,” he said.
Vikramarka urged corporates to go beyond statutory CSR mandates and focus on transformative, long-term development work. He said Telangana provides both the platform and transparency required for meaningful CSR impact and called the state an ideal destination for such initiatives.
Highlighting current efforts, he said 100 Young India International Residential Schools are being built in Phase I, one per assembly constituency, each with an outlay of ₹200 crore. The initiative aims to deliver international-standard education to students from disadvantaged backgrounds. According to the Deputy CM, companies have already come forward to take over school management responsibilities.
He added that 100 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) are being upgraded into advanced technology centres in partnership with the corporate sector.
He said corporate houses should partner with communities and focus on capacity-building rather than infrastructure alone. “Infrastructure may fade, but people’s skills and confidence will endure,” he said.
Sustainability, he added, is not just about environmental standards but also about ensuring dignity, opportunity, and equitable access to development. “The government sees industries not as donors, but as partners,” he said.
The event was attended by Hyderabad District Collector Dasari Harichandan and ASSOCHAM representatives including Suresh Chukkapalli, Barul Islam, Abhishek Ranjan, and Krishna Edula.
