Hyderabad: Telangana police on Tuesday arrested two youths in Mancherial district for smuggling illicit country liquor (gudumba) concealed in college backpacks.
Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted the suspects travelling on a motorcycle from Elgam towards Malkalapet. A search of their bags led to the seizure of 40 litres of gudumba. Both were taken into custody.
During interrogation, police identified Ram Tanki from Elgam as the primary supplier, who had been manufacturing the liquor and distributing it to Guddi Palli Matka in Malkalapet. Authorities have booked four individuals—including those involved in production, transportation, and distribution.
The seized liquor and the motorcycle were taken into custody. Police have intensified surveillance on illegal gudumba networks operating across the district.
