Over 2,000 private colleges in Telangana closed for second day over fee reimbursement dues

Hyderabad: More than 2,000 private degree, engineering, and postgraduate colleges across Telangana stayed closed for the second straight day on Tuesday. The managements continued their protest, demanding the government release pending fee reimbursement funds.

The agitation began on Monday after college owners said arrears worth several crores were still unpaid. They said the delay pushed many institutions into financial hardship and affected regular academic activity.

Telangana private colleges fee reimbursement protest gains momentum

Teachers, students, and college representatives held demonstrations near the Ambedkar and Indira Gandhi statues. They submitted petitions, urging officials to clear the dues immediately.

BC student associations extended full support to the protest. They announced plans to lay siege to the State Council of Higher Education. The groups warned that if the government delayed further, they would start statewide protests.

Student leaders said both students and colleges were suffering due to the delay. They demanded that the government act quickly and release the pending funds without any more excuses.
