Hyderabad: The Telangana government will issue sanction letters to five lakh unemployed youth on June 2 as part of the inaugural rollout of its flagship Rajiv Yuva Vikasam self-employment scheme. Welfare departments have been directed to wrap up beneficiary selection by May 25, after final approval from district ministers.
Over 16.2 lakh applications were received across the state. The scheme allows for unit grants of up to ₹4 lakh. Screening has revealed a heavy tilt towards the ₹1–2 lakh and ₹2–4 lakh categories, with fewer applications under ₹1 lakh.
For instance, under the SC Corporation, 3.24 lakh applicants are competing for 20,000 units worth ₹2–4 lakh. The BC Corporation has drawn 6.66 lakh applications for 22,000 units. For EBCs, 32,000 people are vying for just 8,000 units. For minorities, a total of 2.4 lakh applications were received for 45,000 units.
To meet the rollout deadline, field-level committees are scrutinising all applications using database cross-verification. Applicants who have benefited from welfare corporations in the last five years are disqualified. Aadhar-linked bank account validation is also underway to weed out errors.
The government aims to ground all units within three months, spending around ₹2,000 crore per month. Beneficiary distribution plans are being tailored based on caste-wise population in mandals, districts, municipalities, and corporations. Only one member per family will be eligible, officials clarified.
