ration card distribution

Hyderabad: The Telangana government will begin issuing new ration cards from July 14, with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy scheduled to launch the exercise at a public function in Tungaturthi constituency of Suryapet district.

The Department of Civil Supplies is overseeing arrangements for the event, which is expected to mark the formal rollout of the scheme.

Following a state-wide exercise that gathered 25 lakh applications through public grievances, gram sabhas, MeeSeva centres and other channels, the administration processed requests for new cards as well as updates to existing ones.

Officials said 13 lakh individuals were added to existing ration cards after a household survey, while 2.55 lakh families were found eligible for new cards. Approval certificates for these will be handed over by the Chief Minister at the launch event.
