Telangana strengthens governance with CEGIS partnership extension.

Telangana Renews MoU with CEGIS for Data-Driven Governance

HYDERABAD: Continuing the collaboration initiated in 2019, the Telangana government has renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre for Effective Governance of Indian States (CEGIS) Foundation for another five years. The agreement aims to strengthen data-driven governance and enhance the efficiency of public expenditure in the state.

The MoU renewal took place on Monday at the State Secretariat in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, along with senior officials from the Finance and Planning Departments. Those who signed the agreement included State Finance Department Special Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, Planning Department Principal Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, CEGIS Founder Professor Karthik Muraleedharan, Project Director Harinarayan, and Planning Director Om Prakash.

As part of the renewed collaboration, CEGIS will provide analytical support to improve the state’s revenue generation. Additionally, it will assist in evaluating the efficiency of energy utilities, including efforts to reduce the average cost of power supply, optimize power purchase agreements, and promote efficient energy consumption among end users.

Since 2019, CEGIS has been working with Telangana’s Planning and Finance Departments, as well as key sectors such as Education, Women Development and Child Welfare, and Agriculture, to design and implement interventions that strengthen governance and improve developmental outcomes.

The CEGIS Foundation collaborates with state governments across India to drive large-scale governance reforms. Apart from Telangana, it is currently working with Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Delhi, the Bodoland Territorial Council in Assam, and several Government of India institutions.
