Hyderabad: Senior Telangana officials on Wednesday held a high-level review at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Secretariat to assess damage from the recent heavy rains and monitor ongoing relief efforts across the state. The meeting included Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishnarao, Disaster Management Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar, Finance Secretary Sultania, and senior officials from the Irrigation, Panchayati Raj, Health, Municipal, Roads & Buildings, and Power departments.
The review focused on ensuring immediate compensation to affected citizens, prioritising infrastructure repair, and improving coordination between departments and district collectors.
Relief funding released, infrastructure repairs prioritised
Officials were directed to speed up compensation disbursement where pending and ensure no eligible victim is left waiting. Priority repairs were outlined for damaged tanks, ponds, and roads.
The state government released ₹10 crore for severely affected districts and ₹5 crore for districts with moderate damage. Department heads were instructed to coordinate with collectors and maintain round-the-clock monitoring of relief measures from Hyderabad.
Delay in UCs flagged; rain alert issued
The meeting also flagged delays in submitting Utilisation Certificates (UCs) for central funds used in flood relief. Officials were ordered to complete and submit the UCs by September 13 without fail.
Citing a new low-pressure system, the weather department has warned of heavy rainfall across several districts in the next 48 hours. In response, the government has asked all departments to remain vigilant and ensure rapid response to any further emergencies.
