Hyderabad: Telangana’s rise from a contentious idea to a benchmark of progress was front and centre at the Global Leaders’ Summit 2025, where IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu declared the state a “role model for other Indian states.”
Addressing an international audience on Friday, Sridhar Babu didn’t shy away from recalling the doubts that once clouded Telangana’s formation. “What was once seen as an experiment is now a story of unstoppable momentum,” he said, pointing to the state’s robust economic metrics as proof.
In just over a decade since its birth, Telangana’s economy has surged ahead. The state’s GDP now stands at ₹16.12 lakh crore, growing at 10.1 percent annually outpacing the national average. Equally notable is the per capita income, which has reached ₹3.79 lakh, nearly 1.8 times that of the country.
The Minister underscored the state’s investment appeal, noting that in the past 18 months alone, Telangana has drawn over ₹3 lakh crore in fresh investments. Of that, ₹40,000 crore came solely from the Life Sciences sector, fuelling over two lakh new jobs.
“The services sector now accounts for 66.3 percent of our GDP well ahead of the national 55 percent,” he added. “These aren’t just figures. They tell the story of a Telangana that’s not just growing, but growing right progressive, inclusive, and built for tomorrow.”
Pushing for deeper international engagement, Sridhar Babu called on global stakeholders to move beyond mere investment and step into co-creation. “We’re not asking the world to just fund us. We want partners in building something extraordinary,” he said.
From agro-innovation and AI-driven governance to sustainable manufacturing and clean energy, he outlined a vision for collaborative progress in sectors that are reshaping global development. “While others follow trends, Telangana sets them. This is not just a pitch it’s a call to co-create,” he said.
With delegates from 25 countries, including Brazil, Germany, Russia, and the UAE, the summit became a melting pot of ideas, policies, and partnerships. Sridhar Babu welcomed the gathering as more than a diplomatic event he saw it as a foundation for lasting alliances.
He urged attendees to carry home the message of Telangana’s dynamic, investor-friendly policies and assured them of a government committed to enabling global collaboration with real, tangible support.
