Hyderabad: Telangana State Road Transport Corporation Managing Director V. C. Sajjanar condemned the act of a man abandoning his elderly mother at a Rythu Vedika platform in Mahbubnagar, calling it a disgrace and a violation of human decency.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Sajjanar wrote, “Amma… tum par yeh kaisa zulm?” reacting to the widely reported incident in Vengampet village, where a 78-year-old widow, Budda Bhadramma, was left overnight at a public platform by her son.
“Is this how a mother is valued?” Sajjanar asked, noting that at an age when a mother most needs her children, three sons failed her. He described their lack of compassion as disturbing and unacceptable.
His remarks triggered widespread support online. Thousands of users criticised the sons’ actions, labelling the behaviour as inhumane. Comments such as “A son like that is no son at all” flooded platforms. Many users tagged the Mahbubnagar District Collector and local police, demanding full support and justice for Bhadramma.
The incident has become a flashpoint for public debate around neglect of elderly parents and the erosion of traditional family responsibility. Sajjanar’s post added official weight to a growing chorus of condemnation.
