Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao ordered all district collectors to finish the reservation process for rural local body elections by September 23. On Sunday, He gave the instructions during a video conference with collectors, additional collectors, Zilla Parishad CEOs, and district panchayat officers.

Rao told officials to prepare quickly for the polls. He said the state would allot 42 per cent of seats to Backward Classes, based on caste survey data. Quotas for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, he said, would follow the 2011 Census figures.
The Chief Secretary instructed officials to conduct a lottery in the presence of political parties to finalise women’s reservations. He also warned them not to release details until the government issues an official order confirming percentages.
On Monday, collectors will hold meetings with ZP CEOs, DPOs, and MPDOs in their districts. They will plan and implement the reservation process under the Chief Secretary’s directions.
