Hyderabad: The Telangana government approved an additional ₹90 crore for acquiring land to develop Mamnoor Airport in Warangal. This new sanction raised the total funds for land acquisition to ₹295 crore.
The Transport, Roads and Buildings Department issued the order on Thursday. It directed the Warangal District Collector to complete the land purchase quickly and pay compensation to landowners.
Telangana accelerates Mamnoor Airport project
The government had earlier approved ₹205 crore for the project. After reviewing progress, officials found that more funds were needed. The Cabinet then cleared an extra ₹90 crore to finish the land acquisition process.
Authorities identified 280.30 acres of land for the airport. The Collector will use the sanctioned amount to complete the purchase and transfer the land for development.
Boost for regional air links
The government said the Mamnoor project would help revive the old airstrip near Warangal and improve regional air connectivity.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is preparing Techno-Economic Feasibility Reports for six regional airports, including Mamnoor. Officials said the move will open new opportunities for trade, industry, and tourism in northern Telangana.
