HYDERABAD: The Telangana government has granted permission for shops across the state to remain open 24 hours daily from March 2 to March 31, aligning with the holy month of Ramzan. The decision aims to facilitate increased commercial activity and cater to community needs during the fasting period.
In an official order issued by Labour Department Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar, the government emphasized adherence to labour laws. Employers must pay double wages for work exceeding eight hours per day or 48 hours per week. Additionally, employees working on designated rest days must receive alternative leave. Authorities have warned of strict action against non-compliance.
To support worshippers, local bodies have been directed to ensure essential amenities at mosques and Eidgahs, including water supply, electricity, and sanitation.
Earlier, the state government also allowed Muslim employees in government offices, schools, and public sector undertakings to leave work at 4:00 PM throughout Ramzan to facilitate religious observances.
