Hyderabad: Telangana Sports Authority chairman Shivasena Reddy on Thursday said athletes alone have the power to hoist the national flag with pride, even on foreign soil. He stressed the need to train them into champions.
After hoisting the national flag at LB Stadium during the 79th Independence Day celebrations, Reddy called for producing athletes who can uphold the nation’s honour at global events.
He said the state’s new sports policy aims to encourage talent that can bring glory to India at both national and international levels. The Telangana Sports Authority, he added, is working to make Hyderabad a permanent venue for world-class competitions.
