Hyderabad: Telangana Sports Minister Vakiti Srihari announced the launch of the state’s comprehensive Sports Policy 2025, developed under the direction of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
Releasing the poster for the upcoming Sports Conclave at Atmakur Centre in Wanaparthy constituency, Srihari said the long-neglected sports sector is undergoing major transformation. The event was attended by Telangana Sports Authority Chairman Shiv Sena Reddy.
Srihari said the very first cabinet meeting following his appointment approved the sports sector—an outcome he described as personally significant as a sportsperson. He stated that the new policy lays out a long-term roadmap for sports development in the state.
The Sports Conclave will host a wide array of sports experts and federation representatives from across the country. According to the minister, the forum aims to ensure strong implementation of the policy through broad consultation.
He called the new policy a game-changer that would push Telangana’s athletes onto national and global stages. He said it would focus on grassroots-level talent discovery, especially in rural areas, with an eye toward producing world-class athletes.
Sports Authority Chairman Shiv Sena Reddy said the authority’s responsibilities would expand substantially under the new framework. He added that the policy would facilitate integrated sports programming in coordination with multiple departments.
Reddy credited CM Revanth Reddy for initiating sweeping reforms in the sports sector. He said Telangana Sports Authority had conducted several national and international events in the past year, with more lined up under the new policy framework.
Atmakur Market Committee Chairman Rahmatullah and other local representatives also attended the event.
