Hyderabad: Sports and Youth Services Minister Vakiti Srihari announced the launch of the Telangana Sports Policy 2025, developed under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s guidance to strategically boost sports at grassroots and elite levels.
Srihari unveiled the Sports Conclave poster at Atmakur Mandal, accompanied by Telangana Sports Authority Chairman Shiv Sena Reddy. The event marked the official rollout of the policy and brought together sports experts and federation representatives from across India.
Srihari said the sports sector, long overlooked, is now seeing strategic revival. “Our first cabinet meeting as Sports Ministry approved the Sports Policy 2025 proposals. That was a proud moment for me as an athlete,” he asserted. The policy aims at long-term growth and effective implementation statewide.
The new policy focuses on village-level talent identification. Srihari emphasized discovering “gems in the soil” to train them into national and international champions. He expressed confidence that the policy will elevate Telangana athletes globally.
Chairman Shiv Sena Reddy stated that the Telangana Sports Authority’s responsibilities will broaden under the new policy. He said it will now coordinate cross-departmental initiatives, support athletes, and implement diverse sports programs. He credited CM Revanth Reddy for driving a transformation in the state’s sports infrastructure.
Over the past year, the Sports Authority successfully led national and international programs, Reddy noted. He added that future initiatives will build on this momentum with greater scale and outreach.
