Telangana stall draws global attention at Bharat International Rice Conference

Hyderabad: The Telangana stall emerged as a major attraction at the Bharat International Rice Conference held at Bharat Mandapam Hall No. 14 in New Delhi on Thursday.

Set up jointly by the Telangana State Civil Supplies Corporation and Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University, the stall highlighted Telangana’s rice export potential on the global stage, according to Civil Supplies Commissioner and ex-officio Principal Secretary M. Stephen Raveendra.

Delegates from countries including Kuwait and various African nations visited the Telangana stall, along with NCEL Managing Director Unupom Kausik, Indian Rice Exporters Federation President Prem Garg, and several leading rice exporters from across India.

The stall featured premium rice varieties such as MTU 1010, RNR 15048, BPT 5204, KNM 1638, KNM 118 (Jai Sriram), HMT Sona, and Chittimuthyalu.

Speaking on the occasion, Stephen Raveendra said, “We are already exporting Telangana rice to the Philippines, and efforts are underway to expand exports to Middle Eastern and African markets. Increased exports will directly benefit farmers in Telangana.”

Also present at the event were Coordination Secretary Dr. Gaurav Uppal, Additional Director of Civil Supplies Rohit Singh, and other senior officials from the Telangana Civil Supplies Department.
