HYDERABAD: A tragic incident has left a family in Telangana mourning as a young student from Kesampeta, Rangareddy district, was shot dead in the United States.
The victim, Gampa Praveen (27), was pursuing his MS second year in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Alongside his studies, he worked part-time at a store to support himself.
According to reports, Praveen was returning home from work on Wednesday (March 5) early morning when unidentified assailants opened fire near a beach close to his residence. He succumbed to the gunshot injuries on the spot.
His family members in Telangana were informed about the tragic incident, but the cause of the shooting remains unclear. Authorities are yet to confirm whether it was a targeted attack or a case of suicide.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns over the safety of Indian students in the US. Investigations are underway to determine the exact circumstances of Praveen’s death.
