Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Friday submitted the Metro Rail Phase 2(B) project proposal to the Union government for approval. The plan includes 86.1 km of new metro lines across three corridors at a total estimated cost of ₹19,579 crore.
According to the proposal, the expansion will cover the following corridors: 39.6 km from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport to Bharat Future City (₹7,168 crore), 24.5 km from Jubilee Bus Station to Medchal (₹6,946 crore), and 22 km from JBS to Shamirpet (₹5,465 crore).
The project will be implemented under a joint venture model. The Telangana government will contribute ₹5,874 crore (30%), the Government of India ₹3,524 crore (18%), and international debt financing will account for ₹9,398 crore (48%). The remaining ₹783 crore (4%) is expected through public-private partnership.
Backed by State Cabinet clearance, Phase 2(B) builds on the momentum of the ongoing Metro Phase 2(A) work. The government has pitched the proposal as a significant step toward improving urban transit infrastructure.
