Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao on Monday said Telangana will receive 35,000 metric tonnes of urea this week. He credited the development to sustained pressure from the state government on the Centre.
He instructed Agriculture Director Gopi to distribute the urea immediately to districts based on local needs. He gave these directions during a review meeting held in Hyderabad.
Tummala accused the Union government of failing to import urea from global markets and not supplying adequate quantities to states. He said this negligence was a major reason for the ongoing shortage. He also blamed the Centre for deflecting responsibility onto the state government instead of owning up to its lapses.

The Minister said he contacted the Managing Director of Ramagundam Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited (RFCL) to ensure more supply to the state. He added that Telangana has already distributed 7.32 lakh metric tonnes of urea this season, including old stocks.
He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to delivering fertilizers on time. He assured that district-wise allocation of the new stock would begin without delay.
