Hyderabad: The Telangana transport department has introduced a road safety advisory to reduce traffic accidents across the state. It is targeting new drivers and vehicle owners with this message.
The advisory notes that, on average, 20 people die in road accidents every day in Telangana. It states that 80% of these accidents occur due to human error. Motorists are urged to follow traffic rules carefully and remain alert at all times.
Road safety advisory is now part of the licence and RC process
The department is attaching the letter to newly issued driving licences and vehicle registration cards. These are being sent by post to the recipients. All district transport offices are handling the distribution.
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar’s name appears on the advisory, which carries the slogan: “Let’s follow road safety rules and prevent accidents.” The campaign aligns with the state’s long-term “Telangana Rising 2047” vision.
Officials said Telangana will have 25,934 km of roads by 2024–25. This includes 7,281 km of new roads. The department urged all drivers to help prevent avoidable tragedies by driving responsibly.
