Telangana University PG student from Birkur found hanging in hostel; roommates alerted staff after the door remained locked
Hyderabad: A postgraduate student at Telangana University’s South Campus in Nizamabad district was found dead by suicide in her hostel room on Sunday.
The deceased, identified as Ashwini, was pursuing a master’s degree in Telugu and hailed from Kishtapur village in Birkur mandal. According to university officials, her roommates had gone out earlier in the day. On returning, they noticed the door remained locked for an unusual duration. Suspicious, they informed the hostel staff.
Staff opened the door and found Ashwini hanging from the ceiling fan with a chunni. Police were notified immediately. A case was registered, and her body was sent for post-mortem examination.
Authorities have not released details on the possible cause. Investigation is ongoing.
