Hyderabad: The Telangana Department of Horticulture will conduct urban farming training in Hyderabad on September 28, 2025. The programme aims to promote terrace cultivation of vegetables under the “Mana Illu Mana Kuragayalu” scheme.
The training will run at the Telangana Horticulture Training Institute (THTI), Red Hills, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Officials said the initiative responds to urbanisation, shrinking cultivation space, and rising vegetable prices.

The programme will train participants to grow pesticide-free vegetables on rooftops. It seeks to improve public health and reduce carbon emissions. The training also aligns with ICMR guidelines that recommend adults eat 400 grams of vegetables daily. This includes tubers, leafy greens, and other varieties.
The department set the registration fee at ₹100. Citizens can contact 8977714411 or 8688848714 for details.
