Hyderabad: The Telangana Urdu Working Journalists’ Federation (TUWJF), in partnership with the Media Academy of Telangana, launched a two-day training programme on Saturday to strengthen the professional skills of Urdu journalists across the state.
The programme drew representatives from 14 districts, bringing together a wide spectrum of the Urdu media. Organisers said the sessions aim to acquaint journalists with modern reporting and editing methods, digital tools, and ways to adapt to the evolving needs of the media industry.
Urdu Academy commits support for journalists
The programme was formally inaugurated by K. Sreenivas Reddy, Chairman of the Media Academy of Telangana. He stressed the importance of continuous skill-building for media professionals, especially those from regional and Urdu-language outlets.
Telangana Urdu Academy Chairman Tahir Bin Hamdan also addressed the participants. He called the initiative an important step to strengthen Urdu journalism in the state. Hamdan announced that the Urdu Academy would soon donate computers to journalists, helping them improve their work in the digital era.
TUWJF President M.A. Majid and General Secretary Syed Ghouse Mohiuddin coordinated the first day’s sessions. They explained that the initiative was designed to empower Urdu journalists by sharing knowledge and extending technical assistance.
Moreover, organisers highlighted that the training would cover practical aspects of reporting, newsroom management, and digital adaptation. These areas, they said, are increasingly vital for journalists working in small towns and districts.
The programme will conclude on Sunday, August 31, with a closing ceremony.
