Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Meteorological Center has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall across Telangana for the next three days. This follows the formation of two surface troughs currently influencing weather patterns in the region.
The first trough runs from north coastal Odisha to eastern Telangana via interior Odisha and southern Chhattisgarh. It is located 1.5 km above sea level. Meanwhile, the second trough linked to a cyclonic circulation near Tamil Nadu extends up to coastal Karnataka at an altitude of 3.1 km.
Yellow alert issued in 18 Telangana districts
Due to these systems, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rainfall in several districts. A yellow alert has been issued for Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal.
Nirmal’s Mudhole logs 10 cm, tops rainfall chart
On Tuesday, many parts of the state received significant rainfall. Mudhole in Nirmal district recorded the highest with 10 cm. Close behind, Khanapur (Warangal), Dilawarpur (Nirmal), and Nidamanur (Nalgonda) received 8 cm each.
Further readings showed:
– 7 cm in Ramjal (Nizamabad) and Bellampalli (Mancherial)
– 6 cm in Mattampally (Suryapet) and Sadashivpet (Sangareddy)
– 5 to 6 cm in Sirpur, Metpalli, Kotapalli, Maganur, Timmajipet, and several Hyderabad localities including Bahadurpura, Bandlaguda, and Nampally
Given the forecast, the IMD advised residents and civic officials to remain alert. Timely precautions could prevent flooding and disruptions in low-lying areas.
