Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said the Telangana government is committed to women police welfare. He assured that recommendations from the three-day women police conference will be implemented in full.
At the valedictory session held at the Police Academy, Bhatti said staff needs were real requirements, not luxuries. He endorsed the idea of removing the prefix “women” from the police designation, arguing that recruitment is already gender-neutral and duties must reflect equality. He announced that a committee would study the proposals and submit them to the government for approval.
Women police welfare and security in growth
Bhatti stressed that peace and order drive investment. He said Telangana now ranks first in law-and-order performance because police officers put their lives on the line. He added that their work ensured the safe conduct of major programmes and festivals without incidents.
The Deputy CM asked officers to submit proposals on core needs such as new offices, upgraded stations, and staff quarters. He said the government has a duty to address these requirements since the force underpins all public services.
Education reforms and support for police families
Bhatti said the Praja government is shaping a new education model. He announced that 104 schools, each costing ₹200 crore and built on 25 acres, are under construction to international standards.
He added that Young India schools have already begun supporting police families. The government wanted them to expand, he said. Bhatti noted that police officers often face social and political pressure that prevents them from focusing on their children’s education. The State, he said, has therefore taken responsibility to secure quality schooling for every child of a police family.
The Deputy CM said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and the Cabinet are committed to running Telangana on humanitarian lines. He urged senior officers to continue future workshops that would build a safe and supportive environment for both staff and citizens.
