Hyderabad: The Telangana State Women’s Commission organised an awareness programme titled “Safety of Daughters – Education of Daughters” at Annojiguda in Ghatkesar mandal of Medchal district. The initiative was held at the direction of commission chairperson Nerella Sharada in connection with Navaratri and Bathukamma celebrations.
Women’s Commission stresses safety and education
Commission member Eshwari Bai attended as the chief guest and spoke about the need to protect girls and provide them with quality education. She urged society to act responsibly to curb harassment and safeguard children.
Meanwhile, commission secretary Padmaja Ramana said every family must ensure daughters receive education with equal rights. She added that education builds confidence and helps girls move ahead. In addition, she highlighted legal protections and the use of helplines 181 and 100.
Awareness on safety, health and nutrition
SHE Team officials also briefed women and girls on cyber safety and the responsible use of social media. A medical officer, moreover, advised them on nutritious food, personal hygiene, and overall health.
The Women’s Commission stressed that Navaratri and Bathukamma symbolise women’s strength and the importance of daughters. Therefore, it called on society to commit itself to ensuring their safety and education.
Notably, the programme saw participation from SHE Team officers, a medical officer, anganwadi teachers, adolescent girls, women, Alwal CDPO Swati, ICDS supervisors, and Women’s Commission officials.
