Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert across Telangana, forecasting moderate to heavy rains and gusty winds over the next four days.
According to IMD, winds may reach speeds of up to 40 km/h during the period. Hyderabad is expected to see continued rainfall for the next two days, with intermittent spells across multiple localities.
On Thursday, after a dry afternoon, sudden cloud cover led to widespread downpours in the city. Between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m., Uppal recorded the highest rainfall at 8.58 cm, followed by Nacharam at 7.88 cm and Mettuguda at 6.93 cm, according to Telangana State Development Planning Society data.
Light to moderate showers are likely in parts of Greater Hyderabad during night hours for the next two days, according to city weather officials.
In view of the rainfall, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board managing director Ashok Reddy instructed field staff to remain on alert.
Rainfall was also reported in several districts, including Mancherial, Khammam, Suryapet, Peddapalli, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Siddipet, Vikarabad, Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Nalgonda, Mahabubabad, Janagaon, Hanamkonda, and Bhadradri Kothagudem.
Uppal in Medchal-Malkajgiri district recorded the highest district-wide rainfall at 8.5 cm. Other high readings included 8.3 cm in Vemsoor (Khammam), 7.9 cm in Bellampalli (Mancherial), 7.8 cm in Nacharam (Medchal), 6.9 cm in Mettuguda, 6.7 cm in Madhira (Khammam), 6.4 cm in Narayanapur (Yadadri), and 6.1 cm in Gaddipalli (Suryapet).
