Hyderabad, January 29: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy reviewed the state’s recently concluded comprehensive household survey, stating that it has gained nationwide attention. He noted that the initiative has been widely appreciated at the national level.
During a meeting at the Integrated Command and Control Centre on Wednesday, the Chief Minister, along with Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka and ministers Damodar Rajanarsimha, Uttam Kumar Reddy, Seethakka, and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, discussed the survey’s progress. Senior officials, including Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, were also present.
The Chief Minister commended the officials and employees for successfully conducting the survey. He highlighted that the caste census would contribute to social empowerment and aid the upliftment of BC, SC, ST, minority, and weaker sections. He asserted that the survey demonstrated the government’s commitment to its promises and would assist the newly established BC Dedicated Commission.
Officials informed the CM that data entry has been completed, and a draft report will be ready in two days. The final report is expected to be submitted to the Cabinet Sub-Committee by February 2.
The state launched the Comprehensive Household Survey on November 6, 2024, and completed data collection across all districts by early December. Over one lakh enumerators, supervisors, and data entry operators participated in the survey, covering approximately 1.16 crore households. Around 96% of families provided their details, with a few unable to participate due to reasons such as locked homes or unavailability.
The Telangana government approved the caste census plan in February 2024, and by September 12, a Cabinet Sub-Committee was formed to finalise survey guidelines. The final implementation process was detailed in a government order issued on October 10. The survey was conducted under the Planning Department, designated as the nodal agency.
With the data collection and entry now completed, the government is set to move forward with policy decisions based on the survey findings.
