Hyderabad: The Telugu Film Employees Federation (TFIEF) began a strike on Monday, halting all film and web series shootings across Telugu states and beyond, demanding a 30% wage hike for film crew members.
The federation directed its members not to participate in any shoots until official orders on revised pay scales are issued by producers. After multiple rounds of negotiations, the Film Chamber still hasn’t agreed to the wage hike, pushing workers to go on strike.
The strike brought several productions to a standstill. Notably, the launch of actor Allari Naresh’s new film was postponed. Shoots in other states involving Telugu crews were also stalled as part of the industry-wide bandh.
In response, the Telugu Film Chamber convened an emergency meeting in Hyderabad to address the crisis. Senior producers including Allu Aravind, Suresh Babu, Mythri Ravi, Shivaleeka Krishnaprasad, Radha Mohan, Bapineedu, and Tagore Madhu were among those present. Federation members and Chamber representatives also attended to discuss a possible resolution.
The strike is expected to have a cascading impact on production schedules unless a consensus is reached soon.
